( – Northgate Mall, Seattle, Washington

How I heard of this place: I often seem to find Cinnabon at malls, and, while it smells sweet and enticing, I never venture over to place an order. About two years ago, I was at Bellis Fair Mall (Bellingham, Washington) with good friends and they suggested it. Fast forward two years, at Northgate Mall with my husband, we decided to give it a whirl.

Type of cuisine: Uber-sweet cinnamon rolls with more sugar atop.

Ambiance: A walk-up space in the mall, it’s easily accessible from the Food Court, and not far from Starbucks, so, while they also serve coffee and other sweet beverages, customers can walk up and order solely from the display of glazed creations. Patrons are invited to make their selections at one of two registers with a plexiglass display case of varying cinnamon rolls, ranging in size from small to medium and large, topped with a sugar icing, caramel icing, pecans…

What I ordered: A Caramel Pecan Bun ($4.99 including tax): warm dough, legendary Makara® Cinnamon, and topped with caramel frosting & pecans. Classic with a caramel twist.

What I loved: Caramel Icing and the protein in the pecans, which I like to pretend cuts the 1,800 calories of sugar and butter and whatever else makes these addictive and delicious.

Why I loved it: Yummy, sharable.

Cost: Low to average ($about $5 per huge, specialty bun)
