(tartine.ca) – Beach Avenue, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canana

How I heard of this place: Crossing the border makes gift-taking a bit of a challenge, especially with a minivan full of people! On our drive to visit friends who had recently had a baby, we happened by this bustling neighborhood bakery, and made a pit-stop for a little Welcome Baby gift for his mom and dad.
Type of cuisine: “Your Neighborhood Bakery Since 2002. A Simple Idea. The cornerstone. We believe in tasty, simple food, prepared in house, served in a casual friendly atmosphere. To go OR Eat in, Our house is your house.“
Granola, breads, pies, pastries, and a variety of espresso beverages in which to indulge. I wish this house was my house!
Ambiance: Cozy and sweet with more space dedicated to the baking than the presenting and serving, one can immediately sense the focus of Tartine.
Espresso seemed to be the draw for most,
but the pastry selection offered so much!
The space is cute, clean and simply decorated.
And plenty of seating is available in the early mornings, as many seem to be taking their orders to go.
What I ordered: We chose a full Dutch Apple Pie ($30), one of the only full pies available at short notice and four beverages.

Two large Deluxe Hot Chocolates ($4.45 each) with colorful mini marshmallows atop the beverage and underneath the whipped cream, and two large Hedgehog Mochas ($4.45
What I loved: The quaint interior, the proximity to our friends abode, the bite of sweet and hearty apple pie I sampled and the nuttiness of the hedgehog mocha!
Why I loved it: Simple. Available.
Cost: Average ($2 – $5 per coffee beverage)
