How I heard of this place: Yelp. Hello, Elite ’16!
Type of cuisine: All things Mexican. All things Mexican hole-in-the-wall.
Ambiance: A true hole-in-the-wall, this house-turned-walk-up-restaurant has everything from television noises to grandma yelling at grandson in the house, to plastic fold-out tables and chairs under a covered porch complete with ATM and homemade patio setting.
Walk up, place your order, pick up your styrofoam box at the window inside and take a seat or take your food to go. Simple. The opposite of pretentious. Hashtag mom’s patio. (#momspatio)
What I ordered: My sister and I shared the infamous Carne Asada Fries ($6.75): a pile of fries topped with carne asada, cheese, cilantro, guacamole, sour cream and a drizzle of hot sauce.
My husband selected the California Burrito ($6): a house special with fries, meat, sour cream and cheese.
See inside:
My other sister shared with us the Combo (3) Tacos with Rice & Beans ($6.99): carne asada tacos with onion, cilantro and hot sauce.
What I loved: Fries with meat and everything tasty!?! Heck, yes, I will!
Why I loved it: The best of both worlds: USA meets Mexico in fries topped with the goods reserved for a plate of nachos.
Cost: Low to average ($6 – $7 per selection)
