(No website found at time of publishing) – Bainbridge Island, Washington
How I heard of this place: On a glorious summer afternoon on Bainbridge Island, our long walk prepared us for lunch…or ice cream. The queue at Mora was not worth the wait, so we looked across the square and spotted a cute cafe, serving sandwiches and lunch fare. It was decided.
Type of cuisine: Enjoy a simple, light, American lunch, including cold and grilled sandwiches, salads and soup, with house-made iced tea, lemonade or a variety of bottled beverages.
Ambiance: Strangely crowded into the back corner of a communal entryway with what resembled office space upstairs,
the nestled cafe’s brightly colored interior and mini outdoor patio are quite a welcome retreat.
What I ordered: For me, the Bacon & Veggie Sandwich ($9.25) with bacon, avocado, Butler Farm greens, shaved sweet onion, and house green goddess. Each sandwich served with a side of lightly salted Kettle Chips.
My husband chose the Grilled F&S Meatloaf ($8.75), house meatloaf with cheddar and dill pickle served on Blackbird multigrain, and a side of Rosemary Lemonade.
What I loved: In the mood for something salty, the potato chips won me over, but the sandwiches certainly give us reason to return! The grilled meatloaf surprised me with it’s pleasant flavor and hot meltedness, while the avocado and ample bacon in my sandwich had my husband asking for his own half!
Why I loved it: A great, simple lunch spot from which to people watch, enjoy a bite outside in the warmth of the summer sun and young, friendly staff.
Cost: Average to high ($8.25 – $10 per full sandwich)
