(pedroandvinnys.com) – Columbia Pike, Arlington, Virginia
How I heard of this place: While spending the weekend with an old friend and foodie, we were directed towards Pedro & Vinny’s as a perfect spot for our brunch meal: a fresh burrito!
Type of cuisine: Huge burritos, made to order.
Ambiance: A quaint little shack in the parking lot of a CVS is home to the Pedro & Vinny’s “restaurant”.
Step inside to order, sit outside in the patio where you can enjoy your meal at the wrought iron tables and chairs.
What I ordered: Habanero tortilla stuffed with rice, black beans, 1/2 chicken and 1/2 steak, all the vegetables – including a unique cucumber cilantro medley – topped with sour cream, guacamole ($9.40) and a drizzle of dark brown hot sauce.
Our friend and recommender selected similarly, with only steak and the dark brown hot sauce,
while my husband went all out with a Garlic & Herb tortilla, and the sweet chili sauce amidst the steak and veggies.
What I loved: The mango-habanero sauce, a unique, sweet and spicy treat, as well as all of the little tasting options with a bag of tortilla chips keeping us happy while our burritos were being prepared.
Why I loved it: A simple, yet abundant meal shared in an unpretentious setting by a couple of young guys who seem to really enjoy what they do.
Cost: Average ($6.45 – $6.95 per burrito)
