(frozenyo.com) – Ballston neighborhood, Arlington, Virginia

How I heard of this place: Smoothie King went out of business not long after our move to the Ballston neighborhood. Only months later, Frozenyo opened its doors. Coupons galore and this was my first visit.

Type of cuisine: All natural yogurt, in a dozen flavors with active live cultures and a plethora of toppings!

Fro Yo Yogurt

Ambiance: “FroZenYo was founded in Washington DC to bring something new to the cookie-cutter frozen yogurt category. With a taste for innovation and high standards for quality and service FroZenYo has exploded in the region, opening nine stores in two years. We understand the yogurt business, operating a huge number of corporate locations. This means we are on the front lines with our franchisees, and spend every day working on ways of innovating and improving our business. The FroZenYo team brings together a wealth of business, management, and marketing experience, and a passion for our brand that means we won’t settle for anything less than the best. We are looking for franchisees who match our energy and excitement to help us spread across the country and beyond.

Fro Yo Seating

Pastel brightness heightens the look and flavor of yogurt oozing its way out of the eight stainless steel compartments of yogurt. Verdant green approaches lavender colored walls, set against creamy, high ceilings. Green-backed booths against blue seat-cushions and silver-metal tables, matching seating also available for patrons dining in.

What I ordered: I sampled nearly every one of the 16 flavors, including: Pistachio, Cake Batter, Mint Chocolate Chip, Cookies & Cream, Banana Cream, Peanut Butter, Mango, Cheesecake, and Peaches & Cream. I decided upon Cake Batter, a dollop of Peaches & Cream the following toppings: fresh kiwi, raspberries, chocolate chips, Butterfinger and Heath bar crumbles.

My Fro Yo

What I loved: The tartness of the frozen yogurt, and one-size-fits-all approach: one container, filled as you please!

Fro Yo Condiments

Why I loved it: Simple concept, whimsical decor, easy and fun to make your own fro-yo sundae.

Cost: Cost measured and varies by weight.
