(talaythai.net) – Marpole, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
How I heard of this place: My friends Iman & Nolan introduced me to Talay Thai as one of the newest Thai restaurnats in Marpole and one of the best in Vancouver.
Type of cuisine: Thai food. A large selection and variety of spice levels to suit any palate.
Ambiance: We called in an order to go and Nolan picked it up, so I did not have the opportunity to see the inside of the restaurant.
What I ordered: It is a good thing I left the ordering up to the locals. Iman and Nolan selected three servings of steamed coconut Thai rice ($1.95 per serving), prawn pad Thai ($10.95): thin rice noodles stir-fried with tofu, egg, bean sprouts, green onions and ground peanuts, one order of Pad Bai Grapao ($9.95): pork, stir-fried with onions, green beans, chili, bell peppers and fresh basil. We also ordered Kaeng Khiew Waan ($9.95): a wonderful green curry in coconut milkwith eggplant, bell peppers, fresh basil and lime leaves, and chicken.
What I loved: I loved the green curry and the pork grapao. The curry, light and flavorful, creamy. The pork surprised me! Slightly spicy, ground pork sauteed with vegetables giving flavor and taste to every bite.
Why I loved it: Simple and delicious food. What’s not to love?
Cost: Low to average ($10-$13 per dinner entree)
