(neighborhoodgrills.com/greenlake) – Greenlake
How I heard of this place: It’s on Greenlake. I have a feeling most anyone who has ever been to Greenlake has heard of the place. But I first enjoyed a bite at the Greenlake Bar & Grill when I was gifted an Entertainment book of coupons several years ago.
Type of cuisine: Bar food for the most part. Sandwiches, salads, burgers, and a chicken-rice dish here or a sausage penne there.
Ambiance: Casual. Open space with much seating, including a small patio outdoors for summer enjoyment. Child-friendly. An easy place to sit back for a casual lunch with friends, with family or after a jog around Greenlake.
What I ordered: Three of us returned to the establishment after a brisk walk around the lake and before heading off to our evening entertainment. Two of us ordered off of the World Cup specials, the UK deal of fish ‘n chips ($5 each). The third ordered a fajita style dish ($11.95) with shrimp, sauteed vegetables and a side of beans and rice. The portions of the $5 meals, while enough was small compared to the full-priced shrimp fajita. The location is perfect for a summer evening where you want to spend every light, sunny moment outdoors!
What I loved: The vinaigrette was very light and refreshing, the romaine lettuce crispy and the bleu cheese minimal so as not to be overpowering. The fresh pepper cracked onto the salad at our table added additional spice and flavor to an already tasty salad. The salad was also accompanied by one slice of fresh and soft toasted bread, lightly buttered.
Why I loved it: It was a delicious end to a beautiful Seattle morning after a jog around Greenlake. We were seated immediately, served quickly and the food came out with enough time to open up our appetites, yet not have us hunger for too long.
Cost: Average for lunch ($8-$15 per entree)
