(greenlightdiner.com) – Poulsbo, Washington

How I heard of this place: For Mother’s Day weekend, we decided to venture on a ferry ride to one of our favorite, little neighboring destinations. Here, on our walk through the quaint town, we happened upon a place, new to us, and decided to sample it’s lunchtime fare.

Type of cuisine: “The Green Light aims to pay homage not only to the roots of Historic Poulsbo but also the American dining scene by rekindling the spirit of the classic diner. Serving quality but simple meals complete with a vintage soda fountain.”

Ambiance: Cozy and fun, a lighthearted diner with bright colors, much natural lighting and seating for a crowd.
Enter the space to find yourself welcomed into a clean space straight out of the 1950s!
The dining space is found to the left and back of the establishment, somewhat out of view from the main entry.
The soda fountain and bar (presumably) are also in plain sight, sparkly and open.
Perfect is the outdoor seating on the covered patio for glorious spring days like this one!
A surprisingly clean and vibrant space, this diner certainly welcomes all.
Worth mentioning is the women’s restroom, which comes completely stocked with hand lotion! and a fully stocked changing table (for baby) with wipes, hand sanitizer, diaper/butt balm and more!
What I ordered: For me, at the suggestion of my husband, The Ambulance Chaser Burger ($13.99): two Angus burger patties stacked with melted pepperjack, pickled jalapeño peppers, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion and 1K Island on a fresh Sluys Poulsbo Roll – “It’s A Killer”, and a side of garlic Parmesan fries ($4.99 á lá carte but only $1.00 more as a substitute).
For my husband, the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs ($12.99) from the all-day breakfast menu, served with house made sausage country gravy. And a side of bacon, extra crispy ($2 for two strips).
What I loved: The chicken fried steak was likely the best I have had to date. Crisp and fresh-tasting with real chicken breast! My burger. There is no doubt that the Green Light Diner knows it’s burgers!
I’m ready for a second.
Why I loved it: Excellent service, great food, fresh and plentiful!
Cost: Average ($6.99 – $14.99 per meal for breakfast or lunch)
