CA Fish Grill

How I heard of this place: My sister. Tuesday is better known as Taco Tuesday at this neighborhood joint, where dozens gather to partake of tacos aplenty, all at happy hour prices. Tuesday evening for us, too, meant tacos at this neighborhood grill.

Type of cuisine: California Fish Grill offers a wide variety of fish and seafood from around the world. We receive our seafood daily and check it for quality and freshness before it is ever prepared and served. We are constantly on the lookout for new offerings that keep us on the cutting edge of the global seafood and healthy eating trends. Our menu consists of grilled and fried seafood to satisfy anyone’s pallet. We also offer wonderful crisp, fresh salads topped with your choice of grilled fish or seafood. One of our most popular offerings is fish tacos. We offer the widest variety of fish tacos served anywhere. From grilled Mahi-Mahi, Tuna, Salmon and Shrimp to our fried selections of Arctic White Fish and Shrimp. Our customers rave about our fish tacos.

Ambiance: From the outside, the floor-to-ceiling windows looking in say little about this strip-mall fish joint. Once inside, however, the booming establishment is filled with customers and an extensive kitchen staff.

Dim lighting, bar-height seating, tables and chairs as well as booths surround the large, open space to your right as one walks through the glass doors.

Place your order, take a number and find a seat. Help yourself to a limited selection of sauces and toppings, including three tomato sauces, a house-made tartar, as well as one with northeastern roots.

And then…patiently await food delivery.

California Fish Grill is affordable dining in a comfortable, casual atmosphere. No need to wait to splurge on a fancy restaurant to get your 2-3 servings of nutrient-rich fish every week. Here, we’re family.

What I ordered: Recommended for its tacos, and the abundance of taco-conumers on every side, I opted for one salmon taco ($1.59) and one “fish” taco (battered pollock), each priced at a mere $1.39. The three of us shared a Basket of Scallops ($4.99).

My husband strayed from Taco Tuesday and enjoyed a Large Clam Chowder ($4.49) to start,

finishing his meal with the Salmon ($10.99), charbroiled and topped served cajun style with house-made garlic butter sauce on the side, fries, coleslaw & bread.

What I loved: While the salmon was tasty and perfectly charred, the scallops crispy yet tender, the salmon taco flavorful, it was the original battered pollock “fish” taco that had me wishing I had ordered more!

Why I loved it: A lively space dedicated to creating an environment where people from all walks of life can enjoy and celebrate their omegas!

Cost: Low to average ($2.49 – $13.99 per taco/meal)
